Academic Scholarship: Chemistry and STEM Education

I am an educator with passion and expertise in chemical education, teaching pedagogies and active learning. I earned my M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from URI. I also have Master of Art in Teaching from Brown University. I have been teaching chemistry for over sixteen years. Teaching is the career I always wanted to pursue since young age. On 2013, I was awarded Rhode Island American Chemical Society (RIACS), Chemistry Teacher of the year. Throughout my teaching career, I developed and created interdisciplinary lessons to engage students and get them excited about their learning experience. I taught at a local Private high school, Providence College, Naval Academy Prep School, Brown University and Salve Regina University. My teaching pedagogies revolve around this quote by Ignacio Estrada “If a child cannot learn the way we teach maybe we should teach the way they learn.” When I am not teaching chemistry, I enjoy group exercise activities such as yoga and step, I also enjoy art painting and home remodeling.
