Welcome to the URI Department of Chemistry, Laboratory Safety Training.

Teaching Assistant Training Module

Questions are drawn from these references: 1) University of Rhode Island Chemical Hygiene Plan. 2) ACS Safety in Academic Chemistry Laboratories Handout.

In order to take part in URI Chemistry Labs, you must display proficiency in laboratory safety. Part of that safety training involves passing this online safety training module.

The module covers several topics, each presented as a short video or text, followed by a series of questions. If you have difficulty with a topic, you can review it and try the questions again. Once you've correctly answered all questions for a topic, you advance to the next topic.

You can quit at any time, however, when you return you will need to start from the beginning.

The module requires using a recent version of Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

To protect your privacy, you will be automatically logged off if you stay on the same topic for more than 15 minutes without Submitting or Reviewing, and you will need to start the training module from the beginning.

If you are using a public computer, you should restart the browser after this training.

To start the online module, please enter your URI ID, followed by your last name (surname or family name).
