Here in the URI Department of Chemistry, we take safety very seriously. By becoming proficient in safety skills and procedures, you are helping to maintain a safe working environment for you and your peers. In addition, in a situation where an accident or emergency arises, you will be equipped with the tools to respond in a helpful manner, whether by calling Emergency Medical Services if a peer becomes ill, or knowing how to safely contain and clean up a chemical spill. We hope that you will take safety as seriously as we do, because emergencies can arise suddenly, and being prepared is the first step in safety.
