URI signs a licensing deal with SIRA Technologies for Smart Bar codes using technology developed by Professors Brett Lucht and Bill Euler. The technology was featured in the Providence Journal and in a broadcast on WJAR, Channel 10, Providence.

A new undergraduate degree program, Chemistry and Forensic Chemistry, was approved by the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education. Capitalizing on one of the strengths of the Chemistry Department and increased student interest in forensic science, the new degree gives students a strong foundation in chemistry and a broad introduction to forensics. more
