ChemBioDraw Software Download

ChemBioDraw is a software package for drawing chemical structures and creating 3D visualizations of them. The drawing portion of the software package is available for both PCs and Macs. ChemBio3D, the program that creates three-dimensional images of molecules and can perform molecular mechanics calculations, is only available for PCs.

The URI Department of Chemistry has purchased a site license for ChemBioDraw to use in our teaching and research laboratories. Please follow the instructions listed below to download a copy of the software. You should be able to use ChemBioDraw for subsequent courses at URI.

  • Follow the link listed above.
  • Provide an email address that ends in ‘uri.edu’ and click ‘Submit’
  • You will be taken to a new page, click the ‘Continue’
  • The first time you do this, you will have to register with the company. Choose the ‘Register’ button.
  • Enter all required information in the New Member Registration. Click ‘Register’
  • Go back to the main page for the site and click ‘Login’ Enter your username and password that you created.
  • Under ‘Services’ click on ‘My Site Subscription’
  • Under ‘Accessing Your Software’ click on ‘Download Site Subscription Software’
  • Choose the Macintosh or Windows option ‘Click Here to Download Software 1’
  • Click ‘Save File’ Download may take a few minutes.
  • Run program and allow it to make changes by clicking ‘Yes’
  • When the ‘CambridgeSoft Software Activation’ appears, enter your name and email address you used to receive activation code. Serial Number can be found be going to the website and click on ‘My Downloads’ under ‘Services’
  • Click ‘Activate over Internet’
  • You should get ‘Software Activation Complete’ notice, click ‘Ok’
  • Choose all of the default settings for ChemDraw and read the terms and conditions when prompted. After this, you should be able to ‘Install’ which will take awhile. After it is complete and you choose ‘Finish’ you should be able to use the program.
